Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Rick Luna was born in Fort Carson, Colorado and raised primarily in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School (Class of 1989) and joined the United States Army in 1990. Upon graduation of Basic Training, he was assigned to 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. After holding every position from Private to Command Sergeant Major with numerous assignments and multiple combat deployments in the Middle East and Africa, he retired from the Army after 26 years of service. He holds a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso.
